Research
2012 Pilot Study
The committee surveyed counselor educators, counselors, and counseling students in North Carolina and Texas with 3 separate surveys and voluntary interviews to evaluate the sense of self-efficacy these populations reported with awareness, knowledge, and skills related to assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of process addictions. The committee presented its' results in three publications and presentations at several conferences in 2012 and 2013.
2013 - 2015 National Study
The committee streamlined their survey of counselor educators, counselors, and counseling students for a national sequential mixed-methods study of these populations' sense of self-efficacy regarding their awareness, knowledge, and skills related to assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of process addictions. The committee will present their results at the 2014 ACA Convention in Honolulu, Hawaii.

2016 Process Addictions Course Development

Assessment Reviews
The committee seeks contributions to assessment reviews that are specific to process addictions. The reviews will be published on this site as a service to counselor educators, counselors, and counseling students. Dr. Holman, also an active member of Association for Assessment and Research in Counseling (AARC) has worked with past presidents of this organization to cross-link these assessment reviews with the ones available on the AARC website. Textbook Reviews
The committee completed a review of textbooks to determine the amount and quality of process addiction coverage in addiction texts used in counselor education settings following the release of the CACREP 2009 standards which specifically mentioned the need to cover process addictions as part of a master's level counseling curricula.
